How to Add Free Web Search to Your Coding Agent

Your coding agent can write code all day, but ask it about something current and it goes blank. Treg WebAccess is an open-source skill that gives it a real web search and page reader, built on TinyFish. It works with Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, and other coding agents, and it costs nothing to start.

No credit card, no trial countdown. You get free search and page fetching, with results returned as Markdown, HTML, or JSON, and it handles pages that need JavaScript to load.

How to Add Free Web Search to Your Coding Agent

What You Need

  • A coding agent such as Claude Code, Codex, or OpenCode, already set up.

Tutorial

  1. Open https://treg.to/web-access for the setup walkthrough. The project source is also on GitHub at https://github.com/superdesigndev/treg if you want to look through it first.
  2. Follow the Treg setup instructions inside your own coding agent. The steps are written to be run there, not by hand.
  3. Install the WebAccess skill. Once it is in, your agent can search the web and pull page content on its own, including pages that only render with JavaScript.
  4. Follow the login instructions it gives you. You do not need a credit card to get started.

Wrapping Up

You now have an agent that can look things up instead of guessing, and hand the results back as Markdown, HTML, or JSON depending on what you ask for. If you want your agent to read the docs itself, point it at https://treg.to/llms.txt. Then give it a question about something recent and watch it go fetch.
