About the Pinterest Downloader
Pinterest is a mood board, not a hard drive. Saving a pin keeps it on your account — it doesn't put the file on your phone, and the image you can right-click is usually a compressed grid thumbnail, not the one the creator uploaded. Paste a pin link here and you get the source file: the full-width image, the MP4 behind a video pin, or the clip inside an idea pin. Handy when you're pulling references for a moodboard, a client deck, or a room you're actually about to renovate.
How to use it
- 1Open the pin, tap the share icon, and choose Copy link (in the app it's under the three dots).
- 2Drop that link in the box above and hit Download.
- 3Pick the file — image pins return a single JPG, video and idea pins return an MP4.
What Pinterest lets you save
Three things on Pinterest look similar in the feed but behave very differently once you try to download them. Here's what each one is and what comes back:
| Type | What it is | You get |
|---|---|---|
| Pin | One image or video someone saved from a site or uploaded directly. | The source file, full resolution. |
| Board | A folder of pins — a whole collection, not a single piece of media. | Nothing. Grab pins one at a time. |
| Idea pin | A multi-page story with video, text overlays, and stickers baked in. | The video pages, overlays included. |
Why use it
FAQ
Why is my download smaller than the pin looked on screen?
Some pins were uploaded small to begin with and Pinterest upscales them in the layout. We return the original file, so a 600px upload stays 600px — there's no real detail to invent.
Can I download an entire board at once?
Not yet. A board is a collection, not a media file, so each pin needs its own link. Most people only want a handful anyway.
The pin links out to a blog. What do I get?
The image Pinterest hosts for that pin. The destination article isn't downloaded — follow the pin's outbound link for the source page.
Are secret boards and private pins supported?
No. If the link doesn't open for a logged-out visitor, we can't reach it either. Public pins only.
Can I use a downloaded pin in a client project?
That's between you and whoever made it. Downloading isn't a license — check the source, and credit the creator when you repost.
