About the Instagram Profile Picture Downloader

Instagram draws a profile picture as a circle roughly the size of a fingernail, and tapping it does nothing — there is no enlarge. Screenshotting hands you exactly what was on screen: small, soft, already cropped into a ring. The real file is bigger than that. Instagram stores a square original, usually 1080 by 1080, and this tool pulls it. Will they know I looked at their picture?

Can I download the profile picture of a private account?

Why is the picture smaller than 1080x1080 sometimes?

Some accounts uploaded a smaller file to begin with, often years ago. We always ask for the largest version stored, but we can't invent pixels that were never there.

How long does the download link stay alive?

Not long — the file is served from a short-lived link, so save it while the result is on screen. If it's gone stale, just run the username again.

Can I use someone's profile picture as my own?
