The Startup Splits Claude Code Into a Five-Role Dev Team
Running a whole project through one Claude Code agent gets messy. A single prompt ends up planning, designing, coding, testing and reviewing at once, and the context rarely holds. The Startup takes the other road: several Claude Code agents, each with one job.
The pitch is a full engineering team in one tool. Planning, architecture, coding, testing and review stop being one generalist's problem.

What Happened
The Startup orchestrates multiple Claude Code agents, each with a defined role, instead of letting one agent do everything. It runs in two stages. First the specs get designed, the work gets broken down, and the architecture is defined. Then specialist agents run in parallel to build the code and ship it.
The roles named are a planning agent, architecture, coding, testing and review. One AI agent becomes an entire AI engineering team, with each specialist staying narrow instead of carrying the whole project.
Why It Matters
Multi-agent setups change what you can hand off. A single agent has to hold every concern at once, which is where long coding sessions tend to drift, and splitting planning from building and testing keeps each agent's context smaller and its job clearer.
If you already use Claude Code, this is the pattern worth watching: not one smarter agent, but a group of ordinary ones with assigned roles. Multi-agent coding is still early, and this is one of the clearer pictures of where it is heading.
