Parallel's Decisions API Grounds Decision Models With Live Web Search
If your decision model has to answer something that changed last week, you already know the annoying part. You have to go search the web, pull the context back, paste it in, and only then ask for a yes or no. Parallel just shipped a way to skip the middle.
The Decisions API puts live web search and bounded decision-making into a single call, so a model can check the outside world before it commits to an answer.

What Happened
Parallel launched the Decisions API. It is built for the kind of model that returns something small and structured: yes or no, one option from a list, a category, or a routing decision. Jev is the example the source gives.
The catch with those models is that the decision is only as good as the context you hand them. If the answer depends on something recent, or on information that only exists on the web, the normal flow becomes retrieval first and decision second.
The Decisions API folds those two steps together. You send the state and the questions you want answered. The API searches the web, grounds the decision in what it finds, and returns the typed answer along with probability, confidence, and sources.
It can also answer several questions against the same retrieved context in one request, instead of running the search again for every decision.
So instead of search, retrieve context, run the decision model, get a structured answer, you make the grounded decision directly through one API.
Why It Matters
That changes which problems a decision model can actually take on. Agent workflows where a choice depends on current external information become practical, because the model is not deciding on stale context. Research tasks where the model has to verify something before picking an outcome get the same benefit, and so do eval pipelines where the judgment needs grounding from the web.
The pitch is simple: bounded outputs are useful, and handing that decision layer access to the live web makes the set of problems it can handle much larger. If your structured model has been held back by what it does not know, this is the piece that was missing.
