OpenAI Releases Flare and Sunburst Image Models
OpenAI is shipping AI models faster than most people can follow. Last week brought GPT-6 Astra; today there are two new image models.
What Happened
OpenAI released two new image models today. Flare is built for speed, with 50% lower latency than Image 2. Sunburst targets production-level quality and offers tighter editing control.
Why It Matters
OpenAI is moving at a pace that makes model names hard to track. If you use AI image generation, the main split is now speed versus control: Flare gets you results faster, and Sunburst gives you production polish and finer editing.
