How to Do Networking for Vtubers - NETWORKING TIPS FOR VTUBERS✨
I’ve been working in the film industry for over 10 years and networking is a critical component to growth & success. Here are some things I’ve learned that I feel like would be helpful to Vtubers who wonder how to meet people & grow.
How to Do Networking for Vtubers
1) ‘Networking’ is a fancy way of saying ‘building relationships’ (or as I like to call it ‘professional friendships’!) The entertainment industry is a business of personalities and people, first and foremost.
2) Building community is not only about building an audience, but having a supportive group of people that encourage, inspire and *push & challenge you to do better*. You are who your friends are- identify people whose values, aspirations and personality click with yours.
3) Networking events/threads are not as effective as getting to know someone more intimately. Not saying they’re useless at all! But instead of potentially being lost to a sea of other names, stand out by interacting with others on a more one on one basis.
In the Vtubing/Streaming/CC world, this looks like interacting with someone’s social media, showing up to a stream, being a part of their discord etc. At the end of the day, friends will hire/collab/work with friends because there is a basis of trust.
4) If you’re more introverted, don’t fret! Let your work speak for yourself. Build a portfolio, put out content- but you have to be either engaging with others or putting out work for people to see. You want to build a reputation that speaks for itself-
You can’t expect to meet people if you’re not putting yourself out there to be seen in the first place.
5) Try your best not to be intimidated by the size of another creator- no one is better than you, there is no hierarchy of humanity. People just have more experience than you and/or have been doing this longer-
Be kind, respectful and understand at the end of the day, we are all humans with our own stories, baggage and lives that led us to where we are now and made us who we are.
Additional note to this- because we all have lives outside, be patient if someone doesn't respond immediately. It does not necessarily mean someone is ignoring you! You don't know what someone may be dealing with outside of this space.
6) PLEASE don’t look at people at pawns for your self interest. Be inspired by others, but don’t reach out in hopes of using them as a stepping stool to success. Respect is a two way street and you want to be building AUTHENTIC partnerships, relationships and friendships. (END)
I love being able to share what I've learned and help how I can bc entertainment ain't an easy biz by many means!
That's all about How to Do Networking for Vtubers.
